This is to announce the 2024 OpenID Foundation Community Representatives election schedule. Those elected will help guide the Foundation’s efforts in facilitating the development and adoption of important open identity standards enabling global interoperability as well as the strategic direction of the Foundation.
Per the OIDF Bylaws and as of December 1, 2023, there are four Community Representative seats. George Fletcher’s and Mike Jones’s two-year terms have one year remaining. Nat Sakimura’s and John Bradley’s two-year terms are coming to end so that 2024 election has two Community Representative seats available. I want to thank Nat and John for their ongoing service and contributions to OIDF and the community at large noting that both are eligible to run again in the 2025 election.

Board Responsibilities
Board participation requires a substantial investment of time and energy. It is a volunteer effort that should not be undertaken lightly. Should you be elected, expect to be called upon to serve both on the board and on its committees. If you’re committed to the Foundation’s Vision and Mission and collaborate well with others, we encourage your candidacy.
You are encouraged to publicly address these questions in your candidate statement:
- What are the key opportunities you see for the OpenID Foundation in 2025?
- How will you demonstrate your commitment in terms of resources, focus and leadership?
- What would you like to see the Foundation accomplish in 2025; how do you personally plan to contribute?
- What other resources do you bring to the Foundation to help the Foundation attain its goals?
- What current or past experiences, skills, or interests will inform your contributions and views?
Please forward questions, comments and suggestions to me at director@oidf.org.

About The OpenID Foundation (OIDF)
The OpenID Foundation (OIDF) is a global open standards body committed to helping people assert their identity wherever they choose. Founded in 2007, we are a community of technical experts leading the creation of open identity standards that are secure, interoperable, and privacy preserving. The Foundation’s OpenID Connect standard is now used by billions of people across millions of applications. In the last five years, the Financial Grade API has become the standard of choice for Open Banking and Open Data implementations, allowing people to access and share data across entities. Today, the OpenID Foundation’s standards are the connective tissue to enable people to assert their identity and access their data at scale, the scale of the internet, enabling “networks of networks” to interoperate globally. Individuals, companies, governments and non-profits are encouraged to join or participate. Find out more at openid.net.
